Matt & Joanna Black and the family band.

Matt and Joanna Black have been sharing their music and serving together since before they married in 2000. Since the time they met as counselors on a youth mission trip they have helped many people encounter Jesus through retreats, conferences, concerts, and discipleship ministry. Now they have expanded their duo and are being joined by two very special new additions-their daughter’s Myra and Cara to travel together as a family band.

Matt and Joanna Black and the family band are supported through financial and prayer partnerships with people and churches through their ministry, Sweet Communion Music.. These partnerships have allowed them to continue their ministry’s mission to make music and make disciples for Jesus.

Matt and Joanna have released three albums, Sweet Communion (2003), Unless the Lord (2005), Antiques Pt. 1 (2010), and digital singles-Go Tell It On The Mountain (2019), You Have Prepared A Place (2020), and As We Go (2020). In 2013 Matt recorded and co-produced, Beloved, a duet EP featuring singer-songwriter Lyndsay Taylor and Joanna.

In 2018 they helped create the album Mwen Sove (I’m Saved) with LAVI (Life) a Haitian Gospel music group formed to spread the gospel message through Haiti in a style that connects with the modern music culture there. This recording project led to starting a school of music and worship called Art and Word for Transformation in Hait that is being directed by the co-producer of Mwen Sove, Ilbatch Deshommes.
